Saudi Women at Mc Donalds

I believe that this image is iconic because of its subtext. On the surface, the juxtaposition of the Saudi women wearing traditional abayas and the iconic Mc Donalds sign clearly presents the clash of two opposing cultures; Capitalist modern day U.S.A and the traditional and stringent customs of Saudi Arabia. However, as a whole, this picture also symbolises the convergence of these two cultures despite their contrasts, therefore, representing the phenomenon of globalisation.

But it is fascinating!
